Wrangling a toddler on a 14 hour flight is what I imagine wrangling a badger would be like, which is why when our family of five finally made it into the heart of Taipei, I was grateful for the air-conditioned luxury of the Grand Hyatt Taipei. Nestled in the vibrant heart of Taipei’s Xinyi District, the Grand Hyatt Taipei stands as an icon of luxury. It’s rated 5 stars and offers easy access to shopping like Taipei 101, vibrant night markets, and excellent restaurants. The rooms are spacious and elegantly designed, many with stunning views of 101 that you can specifically book. On floors 2 to 3, you’ll find multiple acclaimed restaurants offering diverse cuisines, an expansive outdoor pool area, a well-equipped fitness center, and a luxurious spa. There’s even a playroom stocked full of toys, adjustable A/C, and a bathroom inside the playroom. Talk about family-friendly.
When you walk into the Grand Hyatt Taipei, a single, grand centerpiece, an astounding floral display in the middle of a fountain that is crowned with an elaborate chandelier greets you. Over the course of our two-week stay, we got to witness an entire team of florists painstakingly change the entire floral display out, draining the fountain and carefully arranging every orchid, greenery and rose.

ROOMS
Grand Hyatt Taipei has 850 rooms and suites, but even with a sold out hotel when we were there for Spring Break, it never felt overly crowded. The lobby was spacious and the bank of elevators extremely fast and efficient. I appreciated how the corresponding elevator first lights up, letting you know which one is there to whisk you away, and as it approaches that elevator’s light start blinking, so you know it’s here.
Our favorite family-friendly room is the Two Twin Beds Premium Studio.

THE GRAND CLUB
After a long-haul flight with three tired and hungry kids in tow, stepping into the Grand Club Lounge at the Grand Hyatt Taipei felt like entering a luxurious oasis. We stayed at the hotel for two weeks and became regulars, enjoying breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening cocktails in this exclusive space. Did it live up to its reputation, especially with young children? Go on, dear reader.
Breakfast Bounty: The Grand Club’s breakfast spread was a delectable mix of Western and Asian favorites, beautifully presented and extremely fresh. My kids loved the made-to-order omelets, while I indulged in cold smoked salmon, fresh pastries and dim sum. There was a new dim sum offering every single morning, although we figured out that the menu repeats after four days. That was fine, since the kids loved the steamed pork and vegetable buns on our first morning and were so excited to see them again a few days later.
The Coffee: We are huge coffee enthusiasts and can’t go through the day without at least two or three cups. I truly loved the coffee at the Grand Club and my go to daily drink was the latte. The espresso had rich, velvety microfoam and was not bitter in any way. The milk tasted fresh with a caramelized flavor, richer than what we’re used to in the States. It made the coffee creamier and quite enjoyable. I’m also a huge fan of the machines that they use and wish they would have them in the States! I’ve only ever seen something similar at the Grand Hyatt Kauai. Perhaps it’s a Grand Hyatt coffee machine – we’ll see as I eventually work my way through all the Grand Hyatt Grand Clubs!
Afternoon Delights: When we needed an afternoon pick-me-up and rest from waving at the pandas in the Taipei Zoo and walking around in Taipei all day, the lounge was our savior. A tempting cake or pastry of choice was served at the Grand Club between breakfast and the happy hour, usually tiny date muffins, banana muffins with generous amounts of walnuts studding the top, croissants with a tuna filling, or plain buttery croissants. It was the perfect relaxed break from sightseeing, and the coffee was a lifesaver for us weary parents. The atmosphere of the lounge was very relaxed and more often than not did we see other families or singletons working away on their laptops. We did a few coffee breaks at local Taipei coffee shops like Louisa Coffee and while that was nice, it wasn’t as luxurious as relaxing in the Grand Club.
Happy Hour Transformation: It’s amazing how much detail goes into setting . Gone were the pastries, replaced by heartier hot dishes, a salad bar, and a wider selection of drinks (including a tempting array of cocktails for the adults). While the atmosphere became more adult-oriented, it remained welcoming of our crew.
Service with a Smile: The Grand Club staff was exceptional. They quickly learned our names and preferences, anticipating our needs. My kids especially loved the friendly attention!
The Kid-Friendly Verdict: I was pleasantly surprised how accommodating the Grand Club was for families. While not overflowing with kid-specific amenities, the staff’s warmth, tasty food options, and comfortable space made it a winner for us. My 2nd grader was able to easily access all of the food offerings. His favorites was the nacho bar, with pureed avocado as their version of guacamole
Is It Worth It? The upgrade cost is around $30 USD per person, but depending on your family’s dining habits, it might be worthwhile. Food is cheap and delicious around Taiwan, but it gets weary and nearly impossible to eat out every meal with kids, so if you prioritize convenience, quality food, and a calm atmosphere, it’s an appealing option.
Flowers of the Grand Hyatt Club Taipei: I could dedicate a whole post to the gorgeous flowers that they had in this hotel, and in the Grand Club alone. So many beautiful and unique blooms, meticulously arranged.
Conclusion: The Grand Hyatt Club Taipei delivers a luxurious experience within the bustling hotel. For families seeking a touch of indulgence, or anyone wanting to elevate their stay, it’s a wonderful perk. If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend trying it out – your taste buds (and your kids!) might thank you.

Club Lounge Layout: very cozy and very comfortable.
